KNIK 200 SLED DOG RACE January 7-8th, 2023
The Knik 200 Joe Redington Sr. Memorial Sled Dog Race was founded by Sally Welch of Eagle River Alaska in honor of the Father of the Iditarod Joe Redington Sr. This 200-mile competitive race is a valuable training opportunity for mushers and dog teams, as well as a qualifying race for Iditarod and Yukon Quest.
We hope you can join us for the race start on January 7th and its conclusion on January 8th. Enter to compete, volunteer, sponsor or spectate at the Knik 200 race starting and ending at Knik Lake and the Broken Boat Knik Bar & Grill in Wasilla. Whichever way you decide to participate, expect a festive atmosphere, powerful and intelligent canine athletes, up-and-coming and well-known mushers, and competitive racing. The race begins on Knik Lake and proceed first to Deshka Landing (approximately 50 miles), then teams will continue from Deshka Landing to the race’s halfway point at Sheep Creek Lodge. After a mandatory layover of 6 hours, Knik 200 teams will follow the same trail back to Knik Lake for a total of approximately 200 miles traveled.
